APM Service map

The Service Map is a graphical workflow representation of all services in the deployment.

Follow these steps to get to the Service Map interface:

  1. Click the APM tab, and then the Service Map option in the drop-down menu.

  2. Alternatively, navigate to the Services interface, and click the Service Map (Service Map) view option to switch to the that view.

  3. The Service Map interface appears.

Using the APM Service Map interface

The Service Map interface has the following information and affordances:

  1. Filters help you to determine what requires your immediate attention. For details, see APM Filters.

    To show filters, expand the filters: click the show filters (Show filters) icon in the top left corner of the page.

    To hide the filters, click the hide filters (Hide filters) icon in the top right corner of the filter panel.

  2. View type selector enables you to specify the search view by selecting one of the following modes:

  3. Overall interval. The default is Last 5 minutes. Click the drop-down to use the time picker and select the appropriate time interval.

  4. Refresh display: click Refresh (Refresh) to update the display.

  5. Use Zooming options to see the details of the service map:

    • zoom in (Zoom in) to see more details of some nodes in the map.

    • zoom out (Zoom out) to see more items in the map.

    • reset zoom (Reset zoom) to use the original size of the service map.

  6. Use Search to find the nodes by name when you have a long list.

  7. The Legend for the nodes contains:

    • Selected nodes

    • Error nodes had errors during the time interval.

      The size of the red ring corresponds to the number of errors.

    • Click the Highlight drop-down to highlight requests, or nothing.

      The size of the amber ring corresponds to the number of requests.

  8. Options menu lets you configure the service map view:

    • Orientation of the map: horizontal or vertical (default)

    • Edge style for connection path is: 90° angle, straight lines, or curves

    • Hide Dangling Nodes

    • Hide Unknown Nodes

    • Show Mini Map

    • Show Only Paths with Errors

  9. Showing …​ of …​ nodes indicates how many nodes the map displays, either because it is zoomed in, because of filter settings, or due to a option configurations:

  10. Reset filters to default clears out the filter selections.

  11. Node size legend guides you in understanding the relative performance of the nodes across the system.

    Click the drop-down menu to select the measure: Requests/sec, Max Latency, or Errors/sec.

  12. The Map of all nodes that match search and filtering criteria: the service node, and its upstream and downstream services..

    When you hover over the name of one of the nodes, Kloudfuse displays the detailed facet and filter information for that node.

    When you hover over one of the paths (connections between nodes), Kloudfuse displays the detailed facet and filter information for that path.
